I just read a hilarious article on http://dccomedy4now.blogspot.com/2008/03/gallagher-will-blow-your-mind.html. The youtube clips are hard to watch but a part of me really enjoyed them. Now, I must come clean...I haven't thought about this in probably 10 years until I read the article. The first live "comedy" show I ever saw was a Gallagher performance in my native land of Lancaster, PA. I was probably 16 at the time and loved comedy so I was pretty jacked to see him. I don't remember the show very well but I do remember not laughing. This is actually amazing because at this time in my life I laughed at just about everything. We sat in the back so we hardly got hit by any fruit which kind of bummed me out. I do remember some drunk guys behind me were heckling him and they got kicked out. The crowd seemed to love him and I remembered thinking, "what are these people laughing at?" The best part about it was what happened the next day....
The next day I opened the paper only to discover on the front page a huge article revealing the fact that the "real" Gallagher wasn't actually performing the night before and in fact it was his twin brother. Lancaster was in an uproar! Country folk don't take too kindly to getting ripped off - people were furious. I can remember almost being relieved though...I figured the "real" Gallagher was probably hilarious and this imposter was tarnishing his good reputation. My belief in comedy was restored and I put it all behind me. Of couse later in life, I discovered that both Gallaghers suck and it really didn't matter anyway.
This blog turned out really boring but still informative...sorry.
