Monday morning and I am recovering from a weekend at the Baltimore Comedy Factory. Every time I perform there I unwind on Sunday with the same ritual:
1. A load of laundery washing all my cigarrette smoke drenched clothing.
2. Lay on the sofa and suck down chloroseptic and cough drops to suppress the sore throat I have acquired.
3. Spend about 3 hours replying to all the fan mail I received from the past 3 days.
4. Help Justin pick out a safe suitable to hold all the money he made from CD sales over the weekend.
All those things are completely true except for number 3.
It was a fun, fun weekend as predicted. Jay Hastings was delicious all weekend as the emcee and Justin did what Justin does - crush with laughter and once a set square off with a chatty kathy and redicule him or her until he or she is subsequently embarrassed into silence or carried off into the smokey lobby by Zues, Keick Kongo, or Mark Henry (all of who now bounce at the Factory).
Big thanks to all the Goucher College and Dead Air Radio folks for stopped by on Thursday. It was one of the best Thursday night shows I can ever remember in the history of the world. Also, thanks to my new friend Tony, Tony, Tony from Urban Barbecue in Rockville. Check this place out and order the brisket. I will repeat; check this place out and order the brisket.
Finally, thanks to the entire BCF staff for a great week. There was laughter, happiness, and no stabbings - that's a good weekend anywhere.
A coule quick notes from the week:
- Dumbest question I've ever asked in my life: Anyone here ever been arrested? (We're in Baltimore...Baltimore)
- Best response to dumb question: "Yeah, I robbed the shit out of some dude." (I asked for it)
- Strangest request: A group of drunk women, one of which had a mullet, asked me to say something to her friend who was celebrating her birthday that night. I said, "happy birthday" but that was not what she was looking for so I asked her what she wanted me to say to her friend. Her response was, "call her a fat C**T!!" I refused.
- Second stranges request: A drunk girl from none other than Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania asked me to sign her upper chestal region. I complied.
Every weekend at the Factory takes a month off my life...I'll be back in the Spring.
